How it began...

The Duo Delirium was born out of a momentous acquaintance in Belgium between the Belgian-Swiss pianist Marie-Astrid Wybou and the German-Austrian pianist Bernhard Jan.

The duo is dedicated to piano music for four hands and two pianos with a focus on the music of the 20th century and can look back on numerous concert appearances in Austria and Belgium, among them at the Ehrbarsaal in Vienna, the Bechstein Centre in Vienna and the Royal Conservatory in Bruxelles.

Marie-Astrid Wybou studied piano at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels (KCB) with Aleksandar Madzar, where she completed her Master's degree with distinction in 2017. Further studies took her to Vienna to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (MDW), where she continued her studies in piano pedagogy with Christiane Karajev and Amandine Savary.

Marie-Astrid is a prizewinner at the DEXIA piano competition in Belgium (2nd prize) and maintains a busy concert schedule at home and abroad, both as a soloist and as a chamber music partner. She works as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Vienna State Music Schools, the Upper Austrian State Music Schools and at the Vienna Piano School, which she runs with her husband.
